BMHOF Class of 2003
United Sound made their entrance on the Buffalo music scene in the early part of 1970. They were one of the first racially mixed Buffalo bands to play in the mainstream nightclub circuit in the area. The group initially featured a four-piece band and five front singers, Larry Gilbert, Dottie Hooks, Ike Smith, Bill Miller and John Martin. It was the vocal and visual abilities of these singers that made a special impact with audiences. Over the next ten years United Sound maintained a steady rotation of club appearances across the country as well as international tours of Canada and Europe.
