BMHOF Class of 1992
Terry Sullivan has had a successful career by many performer's standards.
As one of the founding members of The Jumpers from 1977 until late 1979, along with Terry were members Scott Miklasz, Bob Kozak, Craig Meylan, & Roger Nicol. The Jumpers were Buffalo's purveyors of the first wave of the original underground music scene, paving way for western new york's "power pop" & "alternative" scene. The Jumpers performed live at Buffalo State College, The University of Buffalo, & McVan's Night Club, Stage One, & the Spectrum. The Jumpers toured with and supported early underground groups such as The Ramones, B52's, Patti Smith, Dead Boys, Talking Heads, just to name a few! The Jumpers recorded two 45 singles & one single L.P. track for Bomp records.
In the early 80's Terry Sullivan collectively formed "Celibates" (with BMHOF's David Kane, and Kent Weber) Celibates became one of Buffalo's first original electronic/synth based pop trios playing sold out shows at the Continental, McVan's & many WNY Colleges. Celibates recorded one independent L.P. "A Shameless Fashion" which was recognized and rotated on many college radio stations internationally.
In the mid 80's Terry Sullivan was recruited & managed by "Could Be Wild" Promotion's Bruce Moser & Doug Dombrowski. Could Be Wild assisted Terry to front Buffalo's "virtual super group" The Restless. The Restless were Terry Sullivan, Guy Pelino, Frank Luciano, R.M. James, & Joe Bompzck. The Restless released a self titled L.P. on the Mercury/Polygram label, produced by Eddie Kramer (also famous for producing Jimi Hendrix, plus engineering many British groups i.e. Rolling Stones & Beatles L.P.s) and a video directed by Susan Seidelmen (famous for assisting Madonna's video career) released in medium rotation on M.T.V.
In t he early 90's Terry Sullivan joined up as the vocalist/harmonica player for Terry & the Headhunters, (which was abbreviated to The Headhunters) releasing one CD "First Things First" on the Eureka/Capitol label, produced by Mike Sak. The Headhunters were a "fiercely fun drinking live rock n roll show" consisting of Sullivan, Jim Krawzyk, David Kane, Matt Smith, Jim McLauglin and Bill Moore. Terry won Buffalo Music best male vocalist awards three years in a row with The Headhunters.
IN the late 90's Terry Sullivan formed another hard working rock n roll vehicle - Dollywatchers. Dollywatchers released one independently produced CD, and played many local SRO Mohawk & Nietzsche's club shows. Members - Sullivan, Mikel Doktor, Kent Weber, Jeff Miers & Howard Wilson. Entertained audiences nightly.
