Nick Salamone

Nick Salamone

BMHOF Class of 2003

Born in 1942 on the west side of Buffalo, saxophonist Nick Salamone has been described as one of the archetypal "Texas Tenor". When the Rockin Rebels released the classic, "Wild Weekend", Nick was asked to tour with the band to promote the single nationally. This would begin a series of first-call jobs that continue to this day. Nick has had a stellar career as a sideman from backing up Grover Washington Jr., Billy Cobham, Joey Dee and The Starliters and Louis Prima foil Keely Smith, to performing with James Brown's JBs with Maceo Parker and The Memphis Horns. Nick is known locally for his long association with the late great Stan Szelest and The Ravens and Big Wheelie and The Hubcaps.
