Musician Medics

“Playing it Forward” for others in the WNY Community

Music has long been regarded as source of healing for patients faced with illness.  Officially launched in January of 2013, the mission of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Musician Medics Initiative is to provide comfort through the power of music to individuals and families during their time of need.

Local musicians volunteer their time on a monthly basis to perform and speak to patients in up close and personal setting, such as a small gathering space or an individual hospital room. In addition, Buffalo Music Hall of Fame members play an important role, serving as “ambassadors” on site, working closely with both the Musician Medic performers and hospital staff on site during each appearance.

Our Valued Musician Medics Partners include:
  • Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo
  • High Pointe Rehabilitation Center
  • Willow Lodge Hospice Unit-VA Hospital on Bailey Avenue/Buffalo
  • VA Western New York Healthcare System
  • VA Adult Day Care Center-Sheridan Drive/Amherst
The program has been recognized and featured in Buffalo Spree Magazine and a variety of other local media outlets, including a special feature that aired during the 2016 Variety Club Telethon coverage on WKBW-TV!

Are you interested in volunteering your time to serve as a performer or would like a Musician Medic to perform at your location? For more information please contact musicianmedics@bmhof.org .

Thank you!
We are very grateful to our sponsor, George Hyde of the Hyde Foundation for generously
underwriting the program for the past several years, along with our incredible volunteer Musician Medics and Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Ambassadors who volunteer their time, talent and resources to make this unique program a continued success.

"What you guys do at the hospitals is truly amazing. That little boy in the video is my son and as anyone can see he is loving life despite all the problems he faced. The music gave him a chance to dance and be joyful and get a moment's reprieve from the issues he faced every day. Thank you."
