Jerry Raven

BMHOF Class of 2009

Jerry Raven has been performing folk music as both a soloist and in groups since the 1960’s. Jerry and Don Hackett owned and operated the Limelight Gallery, a local Greenwich Village style coffee house that was the innovator of the “open mic” night. Some of the performers appearing on stage on those magical Sunday evenings were Eric Anderson, John Kay of Steppenwolf, John Boglan (producer for Linda Ronstadt), Peter, Paul & Mary, and Roger McGuin. In 1977 Jerry founded a folk music combo known as the Hill Brothers. Jerry, Judd Sunshine, Susan Rozler and Dave Ruch staged over 300 performances each year in schools throughout New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Jerry is most proud of his Children’s programs including Learning Through Songs and Movement.
