Elizabeth Swados has established a career in New York City theater that has been punctuated by awards. At the ago of 26, her play, "Runaways", was nominated for 5 Tony awards. Elizabeth has been a playwright, an actress, a singer and a producer for other plays that have earned her Obie awards as well. She has composed, written, and directed over 30 theater pieces which have starred actors such as Meryl Streep and Estelle Parsons.

As a composer, Ms. Swados has also written music for film and television, and has performed at Carnegie Hall.

In addition to the Obie Awards, her work has warranted an Outer Critics Circle Awards as well as Guggenheim, Ford, and Covenant Fellowships and a Stephen Spielberg Righteous Person Grant.

She is the author of six children's books, three novels, and two non-fictional books.
