Dan “Danny” Neaverth, a disc jockey and television personality from Buffalo, New York is best known fora run of over 25 years as the morning disc jockey at heritage top-40 and oldies station WKBW-AM/WWKB in Buffalo.
Dan Neaverth started his career doing on-air gigs as a teen in Coudersport, PA, and Dunkirk. “Daffy Dan” was among the original jocks who established WBNY as Buffalo’s first full time radio rocker in 1957. Neaverth’s success at WBNY triggered his hiring on March 3, 1958 to WKBW, where he became a full-fledged star in afternoon-drive. Becoming KB’s morning man in the early 1970s, he quickly created a forerunner of the now-familiar morning radio team approach, highlighted by his “adventures” vignettes with newsman Jim McLaughlin and becoming known for the tagline “Danny moves your fanny in the morning!” and the catch phrase “I got up early so I could be the first kid on the block to say good morning to you” Neaverth eventually dominated morning drive among most age groups. In the late 1980s he made a smooth transition from WKBW to WHTT-FM, where his morning popularity continued to drive that station’s success. Dan Neaverth was inducted in the Buffalo Broadcasting Hall of Fame and the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 2000. He returned to WWKB (formerly WKBW) in 2003 astheir morning man (6-10 daily) rejuvenating that station’s ratings. Neaverth has entertained his present and former fan base by featuring his quick wit and the great memories of WKBW Radio.
